Role synopsis
The Product Quality Assurance Superintendent leads and manages the product quality assurance processes for the Cherry Point Refinery. These processes support the safe, reliable operation of the refinery as well as the production certification processes that ensure all products meet federal and state regulations. Key accountabilities
Understand and manage risks to prevent accidents and /or damage to the environment, including regulatory requirements as defined by product specifications, as well as, CoW, MOC and personal safety in the laboratory. Monitor and plan for pending regulatory changes with respect to products specifications.
Use continuous improvement (CI) on product quality systems to improve overall performance and reduce quality risks. Actively use product quality metrics to improve performance. Implement a product Quality Incident tracking system for the Refinery including an agreed severity matrix to determine when an RCA is triggered.
Develop capability growth for the direct reports, the lab technicians and key personnel in product quality positions. Use training, and procedures to ensure that all Chemists and the Lab Supervisor are competent in their roles and responsibilities.

Implement best practices as defined by industry and Global Fuels Technology with respect to product quality management. Identify, evaluate and implement new technology to improve analytical services.
Provide product stewardship and technical support services when requested.
Participate in the BP Lab Manager's Network (LMN) and other pertinent learning networks like the Western States Petroleum Association, WSPA (Lab Methods Group).
Manage the Quality Assurance/Lab budget.
Deliver on product quality expectations as defined by the Operating Management System (OMS 6.4) and create systematic work processes. Conduct OMS gap assessments for Fuels Compliance and QA/QC.
Set clear directions for the laboratory and promote a culture committed to safe reliable laboratory operations.
Essential Education
Bachelors of Science Degree in Science or Engineering.
Essential experience and job requirements
Minimum of 8 years experience in the process industry.
Experience with product quality management principles, practices and standards.
