The Controller is a hands-on accounting role.
You will work to maintain the general accounting system on an industry specific software solution called Grow Point (Advanced Growers Solutions).
This will include preparation of financial reports.
You will prepare journal entries, wholesale, retail and online billings, Business and Occupation tax returns, oversee and reconcile general ledger accounts and records of disbursements, instigate and oversee quarterly inventory adjustments, and maintain insurance and property records.
In addition, the role is responsible for recruiting office staff, managing new employee set ups for all employees, calculating department hours for each employee, running bi-weekly payroll, assessing benefit eligibility for two categories of employees including medical and 401K plan, lodging payroll taxes to L& I, monitoring ADP tax processing, dealing with all HR issues, coordinating annual reviews, and general HR functions such as all employee information dissemination.
This role reports to the owner and is a full time, exempt, non-union, regular position.
CORE
Responsibilities:
The Controller will be responsible for oversight of the accounting operations with an understanding of the application of GAAP, review of accounting transactions, account reconciliations, and maintenance of internal controls, and accounting policies.
The Controller will also prepare the bi-weekly payroll processing on ADP and enter payroll journal entries.
You will manage the monthly closing process, maintaining and following a standard checklist to assure that all period-end accounting procedures are completed as well as assure timely and accurate financial reporting, and produce monthly financial statements and detail reports as needed.
Tax:
The Controller will prepare work papers and documentation for the annual tax return.
Budgeting:
Responsibilities will include ongoing work for annual wholesale, retail and online program budgets.
This will include oversight of monthly billings and review of budget to actuals with the program directors.
Policies and Procedures:
The job requires handling of confidential data and maintenance of policies and procedures for all assigned duties.
The role will ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization and documentation of complex financial transactions under GAAP.
Quality and Continuous Process Improvement:
Candidates should be proactive and collaborative in identifying, recommending and implementing improvements to processes and procedures in Finance and across the organization.
Financial Reporting:
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for the business's expense allocation process.
The role manages the financial close, creates timely monthly financial reports from Grow Point and provides variance reporting.
Provide backup for other members of the Finance and Accounting team as needed.
Perform all assigned duties of position, and other duties as assigned.

DESCRIPTION:
In this role, you'll be utilizing your technical accounting expertise to provide the following support:
Count and deposit all cash, replenish coin and small bills Post OSHA Form 300A annually for 60 days Manage Payroll.
Maintain and update Google Doc payroll sheet, add & delete employees in ADP & Google Doc, convert google doc to import to ADP, maintain all garnishments and employee draws, and paper record for quick reference.
Tracking and accompanying department heads with employee related meetings/conflict resolutions, maintain all employee files, tracking asll workers hours and status.
Fix all AR and AP and GL errors, train office staff, ad hoc projects.
Manage Accounts Payable & Receivable.
Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing.
Monthly balance sheet and P&L Fluctuation Analysis.
Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) and compliance to internal policies.
Manage Fixed Assets.
Property, sales and use tax and company tax returns.
Microsoft Access implementation team member.
Interface with management in various departments, including production, sales operations and IT.
Banking:
all remote deposits, ACH payments and receipts, positive pay, The successful candidate will qualify for the Company Benefits stated in the Employee Handbook.
As the Employee Handbook has not been fully completed, this document will serve as its predecessor until it is completed.
